Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, will get the Liberty Medal in 2022.


 This fall, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will receive the Liberty Medal 2022. Zelenskyy will be honoured in a ceremony in October, according to the National Constitution Center, for "his valiant defence of liberty in the face of Russian tyranny."

In courageously leading the Ukrainian people in their defence of freedom against Russian oppression, President Zelenskyy has inspired people all around the world to stand up for liberal democracy and the rule of law.

In addition to honours from the governments of the Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Slovakia, Zelenskyy, who has led the country since May 2019, has received prizes such the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award and the Ronald Reagan Freedom Award.

What is Liberty Medal?
The Liberty Medal is given to people who work to ensure the benefits of liberty for people all around the world. It was founded in 1988 to commemorate the bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution. Justices Anthony Kennedy and Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the Supreme Court, as well as Malala Yousafzai, Sen. John McCain, and Rep. John Lewis, all recently received awards.
